Eleanor D. Adasczik, age 90, died Sunday morning at Abington Manor in Clarks Summit, where she had resided. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Charles B. Adasczik, on January 25, 1990. Born in Glen Lyon, on July 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen Turek. After settling in Clark, New Jersey, with her husband, Eleanor raised her loving family of four children. After retiring, both she and her husband resided locally in Greentown while spending much of their time in Cape Coral, Florida, where she was an active volunteer with the Kiwanis International Club. An artist who enjoyed oil painting, she also loved to garden, knit and crochet. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Church Parish, West Scranton.A family oriented woman who adored her grandchildren, she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Purcell and husband Jack of Scranton, Suzanne Gavarny of Laconia, New Hampshire, and Christine Adasczik of Moscow; a sister, Anna Lange of Three Oaks, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Anne Adasczik of Scranton; seven grandchildren; four great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Charles Adasczik, II; and siblings, Peter and Leonard Turek, Florence Cimini and Helen Buch, also preceded her in death. Her family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Robert Kaville, along with the entire staffs of Allied Terrace and, especially, Abington Manor for the care and compassion given to both Eleanor and her family.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 12:30PM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 1:00PM Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram Street. Interment, Queen of Peace Parish Cemetery in Hawley.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 11:00AM until services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s name to the American Heart Association, 613 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes Barre, PA, 18701.
