Jean Boyko, age 80, a longtime resident of Taylor and Old Forge, died Thursday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death on December 9, 2005, by her beloved husband of 49 years, Joseph D. Boyko. Born on January 12, 1934, daughter of the late Francis and Celia Habgood Condon, Jean was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Church in West Scranton. Family-oriented, she enjoyed baking, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her five children, Michael Boyko and wife Donna and Frank Boyko, all of Taylor, Mary Mahon and husband Mark of Stanhope, New Jersey, Ellen Pieczynski and husband Thomas of Kingston, and Anne Wasko and husband Randy of Clarks Summit; siblings, William Condon and wife Sandra of Old Forge, and Mary Gehringer of Allentown; six grandchildren, Jack, Erin and Anna Wasko, Ellen and Eric Mahon and Mike Boyko; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 8th, at 10:00AM in St. Ann’s Basilica Church in West Scranton. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 9:30AM until Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411.
