Obituaries

Darlene Telesz, age 64, of Old Forge, died Saturday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Telesz. The couple would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on April 26th. Born in Scranton on August 19, 1949, daughter of the late John and Edna Tompkins Pencek, Darlene was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1967. She had worked for Topps Chewing Gum Company in both Duryea and upon its closing, in Scranton. She was a longtime member of the former St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge. A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose greatest joy came while spending time with her grandchildren, she will be dearly missed.
She s survived by her daughter, Sharon Beidler and husband Andrew of Scranton; her son, Tom Telesz of Old Forge; her brothers, John Pencek and wife Rita of Moosic, and Don Pencek and wife Diane of Endwell, New York; her sister, Barbara Edwards and husband Joseph of Scranton; her three grandchildren, Katlyn, Rachel and Ally; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant sister.
Her family would like to acknowledge both the staff of VNA Hospice and Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for the exceptional care given to Darlene during her illness.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
