Theo Marie D’Andrea of Moosic, died Wednesday at Geisinger’s Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard D’Andrea, on May 31, 1984. Born and raised in Dupont, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rankosky. A graduate of the former Dupont High School, class of 1947, she was the class Valedictorian. She attended Houghton College in Houghton, New York, where she studied piano and organ. She graduated from the Scranton Conservatory of Music where she had taught for several years. She also taught piano locally.
She served as the organist and choir director of the Moosic Methodist Church and regularly served as a substitute organist for several other churches. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Imperial Foods in Moosic but more recently, she volunteered at several area nursing homes where she played the piano and organ for special services.
She enjoyed crafting, cooking, baking and gardening and always seemed to be on the go. Strong in her faith, she was a deeply loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her.
She is survived by her four daughters, Marilyn Evans and husband Keith, Sr., of Berwick, Lenette Breymeier and husband Joseph, Sr., of Moosic, Joyce D’Andrea of Potomac Falls, Virginia, and Diane Besecker and husband Harry, with whom she resided with; eight grandchildren, Keith Evans, Jr., Meredith Killan, Kelly Breymeier, Jill Meckes, Joseph, Jr., and Kerry Breymeier, Matthew and Michael Besecker; four great-grandchildren; a brother, D. Arthur Rankosky of Eureka, Montana; a sister, Diana Golanosky, Florida; and nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Daniel and Joseph Rankosky, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Mountain View Care Center for the exceptional care given to Theo during her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at 11:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Errol Morgan, Pastor of the Parker Hill Community Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
