Ablain P. Abdalla, age 77, of Taylor, passed away Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton with his family by his side after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Angela Tiberi. Wed on April 26, 1958, the couple were married for 55 years. Born in Scranton on February 7, 1936, son of the late James, Sr., and Waddad Hazzouri Abdalla, Ablain was a lifelong member of Saint Ann Maronite Church. A successful business man who worked his entire life in the local produce industry, he owned and operated Abdalla Banana Company for over 35 years. He took great pride in his work and instilled his strong work ethic in his children. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather to seven grandchildren whom affectionately referred to him as “jiddo”, his family meant the world to him and he will be forever missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three sons, Paul Abdalla of Philadelphia and his sons, Alex and Jake, Dr. Emil Abdalla of Davie, Florida, and his daughters, Tori and Gracie, and Anthony Abdalla and wife Elizabeth of Clarks Summit, and their children, Jack, Luke and Lucy; five brothers, Paul, Joseph, Alex, Maurice and Phillip Abdalla; three sisters, Suzanne Abdalla, Nancy Mazzei and Anna Richards; two uncles, Adeeb and Rev. Alex J. Hazzouri; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, James Abdalla, Jr., also preceded him in death.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:15AM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Funeral Liturgy at Saint Ann Maronite Church, corner of North Sumner Avenue and Price Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor, and Rev. Alex J. Hazzouri, Ablain’s uncle. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in West Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00PM until a 7:45PM Incense Service to be conducted by Rev. Marini.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ablain’s name to either Saint Ann Maronite’s Building Fund, 1320 Price Street in Scranton, 18504, or to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Avenue in Scranton, 18509.
