Ruth J. Mugford of Eynon passed away Sunday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Rev. James Mugford. Wed on December 28, 1951, the couple had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Born in Michigan City, Indiana, daughter of the late William and Ivah Grossnickle Bittel, Ruth was educated at Peru High School. Upon graduation, she would study at both Manchester College and Central Bible Institute. Along with her husband, she was involved in ministry for 60 years serving as pianist, organist, Sunday School teacher, and Youth Group leader. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and sweet spirit.
She is also survived by her children, Rev. William J. Mugford and wife Rose of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; Sharon Rideout and husband Will of Scranton; and Deborah Nollsch and husband Dan of Rapid City, South Dakota; her nine grandchildren, Joshua Mugford and wife Cristen, Kristen Hayner and husband Chip, Mark Rideout, Jennifer Zelinski, Michelle Rideout, Julie, Joseph, Stephanie and Steven Nollsch; her four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Logan Zelinski, Cohen Mugford and Lainey Hayner; and her sister, Mary Mattson of Seattle, Washington.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janet Nollsch.
Her family would like to acknowledge the staffs of Regional Hospital, Allied Skilled Nursing and The Laurels along with Dr. Mark Lyons, Dawn, Carrie and Mary Beth, for the exceptional care they had given to Ruth throughout the years.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 11:00AM in the Moosic Assembly of God Church, 477 3rd Street in Moosic, officiated by Rev. David O'Brien, Pastor. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 5-8:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
