Ann L. Carey, age 86 and a lifelong resident of Old Forge, passed away Friday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, after an illness. On January 20, 1991, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, David C. Carey, Sr.
Born on May 26, 1932, and daughter of the late Peter and Stella Osmolia, Ann was educated in Old Forge Schools. Upon raising her family, she worked as a housekeeper for the former Taylor Hospital. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, prior to its closure.
Sweet, caring and kind-hearted, Ann was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother who’ll forever be missed.
She is survived by her children, David Carey and wife Joanne and Elliott Carey and fiancé Joyce Brigido, all of Old Forge, and Kathryn Carey of Scranton; a brother, Peter Osmolia and wife Marie of Taylor; six grandchildren, Scott, David, Chris, Elliott, Richard and Lauren Carey; nine great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
An infant daughter, Anna Lee Carey, and a sister, Frances “Cookie” Sloski, also preceded her in death.
Blessing services by Rev. Fran Landry, C.P., Pastor of Saint Ann’s Basilica, are scheduled for Monday at 11:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 10:00AM until services.
